Pentecost: Time For Harvest

Tomorrow, May 31, is Pentecost. We have entered a new era with this time on the earth. People have been saying over and over that there is no going back to the way things were before the quarantine. Our world has changed drastically in a matter of months. It’s very interesting that Pentecost has landed on the very last day of May, as so many states are beginning the reopening process. 

As we’ve said so many times before, God has been preparing us during this time. 

In the New Testament, Pentecost was the day that the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples of Jesus. Pentecost is the Greek name for Shavuot, the spring harvest festival of the Israelites, which was going on when the Holy Spirit came.  

Christians observe Pentecost as a holiday, not to celebrate a wheat harvest, but to remember when the Holy Spirit invaded the Church in Acts 2.

The Holy Spirit filled the Church with power and added 3,000 new believers. The account in Act 2 reports that, after Jesus ascended into heaven, Jesus’ followers were gathered together for the Feast of Harvest (aka Pentecost), and the Holy Spirit “filled the whole house where they were sitting” (Acts 2:2). “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them” (Acts 2:4). This strange occurrence drew a large crowd, and Peter stood up to speak to them about repentance and the gospel of Christ (Acts 2:14). By the end of the day that the Holy Spirit came, the Church grew by 3,000 people (Acts 2:41). This is why Christians still celebrate Pentecost.

John Gill expresses the significance in his commentary:

“Through this baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire, the apostles became more knowing, and had a greater understanding of the mysteries of the Gospel, and were more qualified to preach it to people of all nations and languages.”

The Holy Ghost is the third of the go ahead, our comforter, councilor, and intercessor. He is the presence and power of God!!! He is with us, always!

As we’ve said so many times before, God has been preparing us during this time. I believe that we are about to experience a new revival and a fresh fire, a new encounter that has never happened to the Bride. I feel that the Holy Spirit is saying to be prepared and be ready.  Not one of the disciples knew what was going to happen as they were all waiting in the upper room. Likewise, we have all been shut in, waiting, praying, seeking the Lord.   

We need to have our faces towards the Son, always towards the Son, in this moment of time.   The harvest is coming! It’s coming!  Are we ready in this very distracting time? Do we have our ear to the ground and heart in heaven?     

Our prayer needs to be, ”Oh, Lord, let fire fall!” 

I also heard the Lord say that ”The scales of measure have tipped. The weight of the harvest is going to tip the scales in this Pentecost season. It will bring the rise of the Ecclesia.”

So, what is the Ecclesia? It is the church, the Bride of Christ. Just like a bride takes time to prepare, so we have been preparing. Like Elhesians 5:25-27 says,

”Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”

I think it’s interesting that it says ”He presents the Bride to himself as a radiant church.” He is the one who does the cleansing. He is the one who prepares us and then presents us to himself! So often we try to cleanse ourselves, when in reality, we have already been cleansed. All we have to do is take hold of the finished work of the cross. Yes, we still need to press into God. Yes, we still need to pray and seek His face. We try to make it so hard, so complicated. He simply wants to spend time with us, and in that time, he is making us new. He is fashioning us into who he created us to be all along. 

Rise up Church!! He has prepared us and now we are ready to bring in the fullness of the harvest!!
