In the days when weariness had settled on many hearts, a Voice called across the silent night:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NIV)
It was time to open the gates to the Divine Drive-in. They swung wide beneath a canopy of stars, and many souls came driving their cars of ministry to the gates, tired, burdened, searching. At the entrance stood One whose name is Jesus, the faithful attendant. With arms outstretched, He greeted each traveler:
“Shalom, Shalom! Peace be with you. Welcome, and drive on in.”
They hadn’t come with physical admission tickets; Jesus had already purchased their admission with His sacrifice, and each was welcomed not as strangers, but as beloved sons and daughters.
As they took their places beneath the velvet sky, a breeze moved across the drive-in movie parking lot. The wind of the Spirit started to blow, and the Holy Spirit breathed upon their spirits. Heaviness began to be lifted off of them, and hope sprang up like eagles soaring high above it all. (Isaiah 40:31).
Jesus said to them, “Before the movie scenes of your next season begin to play on your screen, it is time for intermission at the Refreshment Stand”. All of a sudden, living water gushed up, not from the wells of the earth, but living springs within, quenching thirst that nothing else could satisfy. Manna descended gently, imparting wisdom, strength, and the revelation that the promise of morning and a new day were about to be ushered in over the horizon. His mercies are new every morning, and great is His faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:23).
On the vast screen before them appeared images of destiny: scenes of purpose, of promise, shimmering with hope. The Breath of the Most High came through their car speakers and declared the coming chapters of their lives, unveiling audio previews of the glory prepared in advance. He was speaking over their destinies! He was rejuvenating their weary souls and replenishing them with His very breath. (Jeremiah 31:25).
Heaven’s melody drifted softly across the field, no ordinary music, but the worship of eternity itself, drawing their hearts deeper into wonder and communion with Him. It was the soundtrack of their lives.
Love enveloped each soul like a blanket under a starlit sky, secure, tender, healing; the embrace of a Father whose covenant never fails.
And the attendant, the Lord of Hosts, moved among the vehicles of their lives and ministries: He was directing their paths.
He signaled for them to come, pull over, and park at His Divine Drive-in Movie Theater. This was so that their hearts could cease from their rushing and busyness, and in stillness they could hear His voice, and the gentle whisper of course correction, renewed purpose, and divine counsel. At the Divine Drive-in, they saw their purpose and their promised destinies.
He directed them to “Tune in.” The Holy Spirit spoke with clarity through their car speakers, guiding their paths through the darkness and prompting their next steps. His Word was a flashlight for their paths.
He guarded this sacred space with them; no enemy could trespass. At His Divine Drive-in, He preserved its purity, sanctified its fields, and brought forth each person’s scroll, bearing their next mission. He was unfolding their scroll on their personal movie screens.
This story was not a fleeting interlude but a picture of abiding in Christ beneath open skies and in the secret places of their hearts. It was a lifetime of moving pictures. Moving pictures with Jesus in every frame.
Those gathered under the Divine Drive‑In discovered: Their rest, their nourishment, their calling.
They were parked not as spectators, but as honored guests of the King of kings. Their tickets had been stamped long before they arrived, paid in full with His love, and they were granted all-inclusive access to His purposes.
And there, beneath His canopy, the Lion of Judah stirred as the Coming Attraction. Each heart leaned back in faith, their windows open, as Jesus served them His peace and His vision/movie for their lives. The floodlight of His delight flooded their hearts. They knew that the Lion of Judah had the perfect ending to their movies. The ending was going to be their beginning. A never-ending screenplay for eternity. Selah!
May this metaphoric story be an encouragement to you. He is your Drive-in Movie Attendant. He wrote your screenplay. So let the film roll, you are the central character. The screenplay is written. You are called to watch, wait, receive, and then go forth in His strength. The story continues, and the valet driver, director, and attendant wait with poised invitation: Roll in. Rest. Be fed. Rise.
Blessings,
