Outrageous Hope

“The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire—with the head, legs and internal organs. Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover. “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”

‭‭Exodus‬ 12:1-12

This passage of scripture hits close to home in a whole new way doesn’t it? The Hebrews were told to stay in their homes, with the blood of the lambs on their doorposts. Anyone who was found inside the homes with the blood on the doorposts, would be spared. The angel of death would pass over. Those who were firstborn found outside those homes, would be killed.

We can empathize with the Hebrews of that day like never before. We are shut up in our homes, fear is rampant, and it feels like the world has lost all hope.

But we as Christian have an answer for our hope. And His name is Jesus. We have been sealed with the Blood of the Lamb.

The Certainty of God’s Promise

When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

People swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrew 6:13-20

Maybe you’ve heard this phrase, “to plead the blood”. But what does it mean to “plead the blood’? Jesus has room in us because of the blood. He has access.

PLEAD, verb intransitive In a general sense, to argue in support of a claim, or in defense against the claim of another.

1. In law, to present an answer to the declaration of a plaintiff; to deny the plaintiff’s declaration and demand, or to allege facts which show that he ought not to recover in the suit. The plaintiff declares or alleges; the defendant pleads to his declaration. The king or the state prosecutes an offender, and the offender pleads not guilty, or confesses the charge.

So when we plead the blood against COVID-19, we are denying it’s declaration of fear and destruction over us and those we love. The plans of the enemy will come to naught, in the Name of Jesus! COVID-19 has tried to lift its name above the name of Jesus. But the Name of Jesus is above every name. The name of coronavirus must bow to the name of Jesus!

We are in a Sabbath, a time of rest. And The Lord is asking, “What is hidden in your heart?” Where are you unstable? Where are you floundering in double-mindedness? Are there times when you are operating in fear and others when you are believing God? God is using this time to bring us back into focus. Everything that can be shaken will be shaken. Anything that is not of God cannot stand!

Hebrews 12: 18-29: You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, because they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.”

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.

See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

The things of this world are being shaken, and everything that does not have eternal value, must fall. God is preparing us to bring in the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever known! And we get the honor and privilege to be a part of it!!

We do not have to give in to fear. We know what happens at the end of the story (God has already revealed what is to come in the end times). God is allowing us to be in a season of refinement, of leaning into Him and listening to his voice. This is the time for us to let go of all distractions and lean in to the “big breasted One”, to hear what He is saying and what he wants to do on the earth. We have the authority of heaven backing us. God’s word has already been established in heaven. We are the ones who have the authority to make it manifest on the earth. Be encouraged today. God is still on the throne and he is still good!
