The Twins Of Purification

The Twins Of Purification

The twins of purification are Repentance and Forgiveness. These two “cleansing agents” wash away the debris and dirt of sin and bring us back into a posture of humility, clothed with a clean and pressed garment.

Repentance is a cleansing agent and brings the washing of the Word to cleanse us of our sins through the Blood of Jesus

Repentance is the essential oil for God to renew a right spirit in us.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

                                                                                                                                         —Psalm 51:10 ESV

Repentance gives us freedom to ascend the hill of the Lord with clean hands and a pure heart. We can come boldly into the Throne Room of Grace.

“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place?  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.”

                                                                                                                                 —Psalms 24:3-4 NKJV

Repentance is the perfume that is added to the oil of the Holy Spirit and becomes a sweet-smelling aroma in God’s nostrils. The fruit of repentance is a fruit that God delights in.

“So produce fruit that is consistent with repentance [demonstrating new behavior that proves a change of heart and a conscious decision to turn away from sin].”

                                                                                                                                  —Matthew 3:8 AMP

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

                                                                                                                                              —1 John 1:9 NIV

Forgiveness is not forgetting what was done but releases us into liberty with definite boundaries.

Forgiveness releases us and others, so we are not bound or shackled to them and the injustice, while unforgiveness keeps us shackled to the person, persons, or event that keeps us feeling the residue of injustice.

Forgiveness purifies us when we repent of our sin of unforgiveness while holding on to any unforgiveness causes a festering sore in our soul and will cause us to become bitter. We will become sick in our spirit, soul, and body.  Our mind will be tormented. It will keep us in bondage.

Forgiveness frees us from bondage and brings healing to our spirit, soul, and body.

We must forgive to be released into freedom and not stay in captivity.

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor [perpetual animosity, resentment, strife, fault-finding] and slander be put away from you, along with every kind of malice [all spitefulness, verbal abuse, malevolence]. Be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another [readily and freely], just as God in Christ also forgave you.

                                                                                                                       —Ephesians 4:31-32 AMP

As we wash ourselves clean by the washing of the Word and by applying His blood through Repentance and Forgiveness, we come into a place of sanctification. We have been washed clean, and the Oil of Purification has been applied. We have now come into Purified Sanctification. We have been freed from sin, are pure, and are set apart for God’s special use and purpose.

Spiritual life without liberty is like dredging through mud; it is hard to move. Freedom comes when we submit ourselves to God. Freedom is the open door through which the Son can shine. We then can move freely in His love because we have been released from captivity. We can now confidently walk surefooted as a deer, which enables us to stand on mountain heights. We have come into right standing with our God.

So pick up the sponge of your will and wash yourself with His Word and the cleansing power of His blood. Posture yourself with the twins of purification, Repentance, and ForgivenessHe already has your garment cleaned!

Blessings,
